It looks pretty dang good on college apps (Helped raise $$$$ for impoverished children in India.. WOAH!)
You are GUARANTEED to make connections with judges, company executives, talented programmers, and just regular people (DOUBLE WOAH!!)
You create an impact on the community (& the world??) with the notable cause you are supporting, which again looks GREAT on college apps
You develop skills on effectively running and organizing a large-scale event, which can be utilized in many different aspects of your life
There's also volunteer hours.. whatever that is. (You get volunteer hours corresponding to the amount you work)
I promise you WILL have fun- whether it be working with friends and establishing connections, this will by no means be boring
